OVERVIEW:

The People and Culture Manager is responsible for completing all recruiting functions, creating and delivering employee training, ensuring compliance with labor laws and employment practices and implementing HR strategies, policies and procedures. The People and Culture Manager implements and oversees retention and engagement programs, works with key stakeholders within the organization and advises on progressive discipline, employment law and termination matters.

Summary of Duties and Responsibilities

Collaborate with the leadership team through all People Team processes, including talent development, performance management, employee relations, change management and organizational design

  • Manages the recruitment and initial onboarding for all roles
  • Leads the review of compensation and wage increases related to performance evaluations
  • Organizes and manages the performance review process for the company
  • Keeps check on the pulse of the company through routine 180 & peer feedback surveys for management, DEI and engagement surveys, employee retention metrics, exit interviews
  • Leads all People and Culture Projects for the company including but not limited to the review and approval for organizational restructuring
  • Manages (implementation, maintenance & annual review) all HR software for the company including but not limited to the rewards & recognition system, Applicant Tracking Systems, Human Resource Information Systems, Learning management Systems, Payroll + Time & Attendance

Act as main resource and contact for all People policies, Employment Standards Act legislation, interpretation, ensuring compliance, and proper administration inquiries for specific departments

  • Conduct effective, thorough and objective investigations as necessary and manage complex employee relations issues including progressive discipline and terminations
  • Design and facilitate various training sessions
  • Monitors health and safety program including AODA compliance & other mandatory compliance training

Manages all Office related matters

  • Communication with property management regarding office maintenance and repairs
  • Ensure employees have access to office supplies and resources
  • Implement office policies and procedures

Manages direct reports and the people requirements of the Department/Team using provided tools and resources to ensure the successful execution of all key responsibilities and tasks, retention of great talent, and high Associate engagement.

  • Facilitates recruitment of direct reports alongside the Talent Acquisition Department to ensure adequate resourcing based on approved Department/Team budget
  • Leads the onboarding, coaching, learning, development, and performance management of all direct reports to ensure a positive and safe working experience.

Who You Are

Education

  • Minimum Required:
    • Bachelors Degree in Business Management and/or Human Resources specialization
  • Preferred:
    • Certified Human Resource Professional Designation and/or Human Resource Professional Association member in good standing

Work Experience

  • Minimum Required:
    • 5+ years’ experience in HR
  • Preferred:
    • 2+ years office management experience
    • 2+ years in a Business Partner/ Manager role working directly with Executive Leadership

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Minimum Required:
    • In-depth knowledge of Ontario employment laws, practices, regulations, recruitment, and compensation
    • Experience driving key programs and processes (performance management, labor design and planning, leadership coaching, employee relations/conflict resolution, rewards, recognition and engagement etc.)
    • Demonstrated experience navigating ambiguity and skillful at balancing business needs with HR best practices
    • Ability to build effective partnerships across the business with all levels
  • Preferred:
    • Previous fitness industry background and experience

Employment Conditions

  • This position is hybrid with in-person and remote working conditions.
  • Mainly weekdays, occasional evenings and weekends
  • Occasionally work off-site and travel may be required
